#inktober a challenge for creativity
My very personal experience
Creativity is the primary skill in art. In writing, drawing, taking photos or movies, being creative is absolutely essential. The same is true also in other businesses as well. Whether you have to write a piece of software, design a service, or write a commercial proposal, creativity can add to any job your own sign. Your personal signature.
For this reason, I’m used to keeping under-exercise the muscle of creativity. According to my experience, an effective way to exercise creativity is to provide many constraints and rules to the game. For example, if you want to exercise your writing, starting from a blank page is very hard; instead, writing 300 words describing a random picture from Instagram using in the text three random words is much easier. From this perspective, creativity is a way to escape from a closed situation.
Even if Inktober is a challenge, I’m used to following it to exercise my creativity by drawing. Indeed, the challenge provides strict rules to follow:
- each day of October it is published a prompt in terms of an English word;
- the prompt must be drawn on paper with an ink pen;
- share the drawing on a social network.
That’s it.
Below you can find my drawing for #inktober 2022.
I’ve used a blu gel pen not working very well: it writes in strokes. The drawing was taken on recycled paper, coming from the packaging of Amazon’s parcels.
My final suggestion: you can also steal like an artist.
